SEQ Bulletin – April 2019

The Stone’s Throw Hike/Bike Rogaine – Saturday 25 May – Entries Now Open

Only a stone’s throw from Brisbane! Set in the beautiful Glass House Mountains, where one really should not throw stones 🙂

This year the 8hr rogaine will be a combined foot and bike rogaine, you will navigate between checkpoints using a mix of both.

Camping is included in your event fee, and there is a Mountain Bike Orienteering event nearby on the following day (26 May) so you can enter that too and make it a full weekend of fun.

For further information and entry in both the 8hr rogaine on the Saturday and the MTBO event on the Sunday please visit the event page.

Mini Rogaine and Training Day Washup
The mini rogaine and training day were held at Bunyaville and there was a great turnout at both events. We hope everyone had fun! Check out the results here.

Rogue Raid 100
The first ever rogaine-style expedition race is about to begin!
100 hours… 100 checkpoints… 43 teams… who will win?
Race director Liam has published a predictions blog here, it is well worth a read.
You can follow all of your favourite teams on the live tracking map and get updates from the course on the live site, here.
The event starts at 1pm on Tuesday 23/4 and finishes at 5pm on Saturday 27/4. Good luck to all participants (and their supporters)!

MOJO Winter Raid
New to the sport? Here’s a Toowoomba based beginner friendly event to get you started in the sports of adventure racing and rogaining! This is a walk/run event only. Entries here.

Volunteers Needed for the 12 hour and 24 hour Events
We still need to fill roles in the organising teams for these events later in the year. If you have been competing for a while but haven’t yet volunteered, now is a great time to jump in. If we can’t get enough volunteers lined up to fill roles in these events, we may have cancellations which would be a big disappointment.
The Rogaining Queensland Event Calendar for 2019 is available at qldrogaine.asn.au/event-calendar. The volunteer page on the website has a description of each of the event volunteer roles. Please send an email to volunteer@qldrogaine.asn.au to put your hand up. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you.

NAMSF Sponsorship
QRA is pleased to announce that Andrew Banks and Mitchell Quinn are the recipients of this year’s sponsorship from the NAMSF (see info from last year’s event here). They will represent the University of Queensland in the Australian Intervarsity Rogaining Championships to be held near the ACT in May. Congratulations Andrew and Mitchell, and good luck in the event!

Questgaines and Night Nav
These 1-hour mini-rogaines can be done as individuals or in a group, and best of all, they’re free! For updates, check out the Facebook Page for information on upcoming events. Also check out the OQ Night Nav events.
