White Rock Upside Down Rogaine – Saturday 9 March to Sunday 10 March – Entries closing soon

Entries are closing soon (Tuesday) for the White Rock Upside Down, an 8hr rogaine held at night. It is a great event for testing out and improving your night navigation skills.

Organiser Paul Elby writes…
All but one checkpoint was hung on Saturday and we are ready to go. This year’s map has been updated by mapping wizard Dan Browning, with lots more ground detail. I have really enjoyed setting this course and it is looking fantastic with many route choices and a large trail network and a few tricky CPs. Will it be cleared? you will have to be on your game to clear it. We’ll have to wait and see.

A big thanks to Tamyka, Derek Nic Helen and Graham for hanging the CPs. Nic said “It’s going to be challenging navigation at night. They will have to be on their toes”. Please note that there is NO CAMPING at the HH. The drive into the HH has changed a lot since we were out there last. You now have to drive through and estate so please be mindful of the local residents.

This year for breakfast we will have a coffee van and Clive will be cooking Bacon and Egg burgers.
If you can help collect a few controls on the Sunday that would be a GREAT help as I fly to NZ on Monday. Please contact me on 0402671056. Please get your entries in ASAP so you don’t miss out on a burger.

The Qld Rogaine Association AGM will be held at the conclusion of the event. Please let any of the current committee members know if you are able to put up your hand to help on the committee this year, or help with any of our events.

For more details, contact the event organiser Paul Elby by email. Entries are closing soon! Full details here.

Bayside Paddlegaine Washup
A lot of fun was had by everyone who took part in this year’s paddlegaine – held in the Pumicestone Passage. We were really lucky to get a great HH location courtesy of a generous landholder, and by all accounts the course was challenging and enjoyable. Congrats to all participants, and a big thank you to Adam, Mark and the other event volunteers. Check out the Organiser’s Report here and the results here.

Volunteers Needed for the 8 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour events
We really need to gather together organising teams for these events later in the year. If you have been competing for a while but haven’t yet volunteered, now is a great time to jump in. We haven’t had to cancel an event in a very long time, but if we don’t get started with organising these events soon, it is a definite possibility.
The Rogaining Queensland Event Calendar for 2019 is available at qldrogaine.asn.au/event-calendar. The volunteer page on the website has a description of each of the event volunteer roles.
Please send an email to volunteer@qldrogaine.asn.au to put your hand up. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you.

Training Day – Saturday 30 March
Entries are now also open in the annual QRA Training Day. Full details and event sign up is here.

Mini Rogaine – Sunday 31 March
We will return to Bunyaville for the mini rogaine this year, and entries are now open! Full details and team entries are available here.

Rogue Raid 100 – 22-28 April 2019
The Rogue 100 is just around the corner now… 100 hours of rogaine-style multi-discipline adventure racing! It will be an exciting event for everyone involved – racers, volunteers and of course the dot-watchers. If you have any spare time on the dates of the event (or in the lead up) please consider volunteering – a lot of helpers will be needed. Email Liam at rogueadventrueracing@gmail.com to put your hand up. If you would like to find out more, check out the event page.

Wildfire Raid – Date Change
The Wildfire Raid will now be held on Sunday 28 July, so please update your calendars if you put in the old date. The venue will be Wyaralong Dam, and thanks go to Wildfire Sports for returning as sponsors of the event.
