SEQ Bulletin – January 2019

Welcome to a new rogaining year!
We have a lot of great events planned this year on our Event Calendar. Get those dates in your diary now, and also have a think about which ones you might like to volunteer to help organise. It is just as much fun (or perhaps even more fun!) to help out at an event as it is to compete.

Bayside Paddlegaine – Sunday 17 February
This event is selling out fast! Only 10 team spots left… get in quick. Full information and entry links are available here.
The event needs a motorised boat, such as a tinnie, on the course for the duration of the event to retrieve kayaks and competitors if a team needs to pull out for any reason. If any club members (or friends) own a boat and are willing to let us borrow it please get in touch with the event organisers (we have two licenced volunteers to drive it if needed). Otherwise the event will hire a boat.

White Rock Upside Down Rogaine – Saturday 9 March to Sunday 10 March
Entries are open for the White Rock Upside Down, an 8hr rogaine held at night. It is a great event for testing out and improving your night navigation skills.

Breakfast will be provided after the closure of the course, followed by the Qld Rogaine Association AGM. Please let any of the current committee members know if you are able to put up your hand to help on the committee this year, or help with any of our events.

For more details, contact the event organiser Paul Elby by email. Entries are now open! Full details here.

Training Day – Saturday 30 March
Entries are now also open in the annual QRA Training Day. Full details and event sign up is here.

Mini Rogaine – Sunday 31 March
We will return to Bunyaville for the mini rogaine this year, and entries are now open! Full details and team entries are available here.

Questgaines and Night Nav
Questgaines will resume on Wednesday 13 Feb. These 1-hour mini-rogaines can be done as individuals or in a group, and best of all, they’re free! Check out the Facebook Page for information. Also check out the OQ Night Nav events.

Rogue Raid 100 – April 2019
It is no exaggeration to say that the Raid 100 is the biggest and most exciting bush navigation event to come to South East Queensland. 100 hours of rogaine-style multi-discipline adventure racing! Australia’s top adventure racers will all converge on the Gold Coast for this pioneering event. If you would like to find out more, and for volunteering opportunities, check out the event page.

Individual Rogaining Results
You can look up any individual’s historical results in QRA events since 2010 and all of the ARCs going back to 1979:

Volunteers Needed for the 8 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour events
We haven’t yet identified organising teams for these events later in the year. If you have been competing for a while but haven’t yet volunteered, now is a great time to jump in.
The Rogaining Queensland Event Calendar for 2019 is available at The volunteer page on the website has a description of each of the event volunteer roles.
Please send an email to to put your hand up. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you. If you have any interest in helping on the Committee in any way please also get in touch via

Volunteer Rewards Policy
Volunteers at QRA or Raid Adventures events who have contributed at least a full day to an event and have given up their opportunity to compete are offered a $50 credit towards entry in a QRA or Raid Adventures event of their choosing within the following 12 months. A list of people who have earned rewards is on the website. The reward can be claimed by ticking the appropriate box when entering an event.

Rogaining around the world…
The 2019 WRC will be held in Spain, entries are still open. The 2020 WRC will be held in the Sierra Nevada range in California. From 2020 onwards, the World Rogaining Championships will be held every second year.

…and across Australia…
The 2019 Australasian Rogaining Champs will be held in Tasmania in the stunning Bay of Fires region on 9-10 November 2019. This will be an event you must not miss. Put it in your calendar now! classic 24hr rogaine is a very special event and travelling interstate for a rogaine is a great way to see more of Australia. Here are the dates for this year’s 24hr events:

18-19 May: ACT 24hr Champs and SA 24hr Champs
15-16 June: WA Winter 24hr
27-28 July: World Champs in Spain
