SEQ Bulletin – July 2019

A Spoonful of Sugar 15/24hr Rogaine – 24/25 August – Entries Open
Don’t miss the highlight of the 2019 rogaining calendar! Up to 24 hours of rogaining – as always, you decide how much you’d like to do as a team. The course will be set to provide serious competitors with navigational challenges and tough route choices, while novices will have plenty of options close to home. As always in rogaining, you can be as competitive or as casual as you like. You decide whether to stay out all night or return to the Hash for a hearty feed and a snooze by the most awesome campfire. Novices are always welcome!

Check out this short slideshow from the course setters! Take a Spoonful of Sugar and enter the event!

Camping on Saturday night is included in your entry, and camping is also available at the Hash (start/finish location) on Friday night and Sunday night if required (cost $6 per person – please have cash). There is also a motel, cabins (Tiaro Tourist Stopover) and free camps (Tiaro and Petrie Park) in Tiaro (approx 25 minutes from Hash) or numerous accommodation options in Maryborough (approx 40 minutes from Hash).

Last Chance for Early Bird Entry to the Wildfire Raid – 28 July
Discounted entry is available for the Wildfire Raid until Friday 12 July (the price goes up by $20/person after that date). Jump in quick!
This multi-discipline Raid event involves 3 or 6 hours of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking, plus a few mystery disciplines thrown in to keep teams on their toes. Teams must navigate through the course using a map and compass on a route of their own choice with each stage effectively its own small rogaine where competitors may collect as many or as few checkpoints as they wish, making this event achievable by all levels of athlete. This race appeals to not just competitive teams looking for a hard hit out but is also the perfect introductory step to the sport of adventure racing and rogaining with a very family-friendly vibe. Set for the shores of Wyaralong Dam on 28 July, the race is supported with a fantastic prize pool from Wildfire Sports and Trek.

Moonlit Macadamia Rogaine Washup
A great weekend of rogaining and bush camping was enjoyed by participants in the recent 6/12hr rogaine in the Bauple State Forest. We were granted access to a great new Hash House site and the campfire and great food were much appreciated. Dave Schloss and Cass Kimlin won the 12hr event ahead of Gary Palmer and Russ Stringer, while Matthew Logan, Daniel Delaney won the 6hr, closely followed by Kim Beckinsale and Jan Leverton in second place.
Congrats to all participants, and big thanks to Darryn, Fiona, Oskar, Murray, Dave, Peter, Will and other volunteers for making it all happen. Thanks also for all the help from participants collecting controls and packing up, it all went very smoothly.

Mojo Raid – 14-15 September
