SEQ Bulletin – March 2019

Training Day – Saturday 30 March

Entries are open in the annual QRA Training Day. The program is aimed at both novice and semi-experienced rogainers. The day will be adapted to the number of participants, and their level of navigation experience and will consist of both theory and hands on exercises. Full details and event sign up are here.

Mini Rogaine – Sunday 31 March
Don’t miss out on this fun event right here in Brisbane. It’s a great opportunity to get the family out in the bush, or perhaps to show some friends what this rogaining thing is all about. The event will be held in Bunyaville this year, and entries are closing soon (27 March). Full details and team entries are available here.

Upside Down Rogaine Washup
The annual upside down rogaine was held at White Rock near Ipswich, and although it was a tough event it looked like everyone had a great time out there. Gary Sutherland and Russ Stringer won the overall competition by a significant margin, while Craig Keeling and Sara Barrett won the Mixed category and Kim Beckinsale, Cass Kimlin and Ali Wright won the Womens category. Congrats to all participants and a big thank you to Paul Elby and all of the other event volunteers. Check out the full results here.

The QRA AGM was held on 10 March. Sue Clark is the new President, Linda Thompson has taken on the Secretary job and Jo Thomae is the new Treasurer. Thanks to those three for stepping up, and please do get in touch if you have any interest in helping on this year’s Committee.

Volunteers Needed for the 8 hour, 12 hour and 24 hour Events
We really need to finalise the organising teams for these events later in the year. If you have been competing for a while but haven’t yet volunteered, now is a great time to jump in. If we can’t get enough volunteers lined up to fill roles in these events, we may have cancellations which would be a big disappointment.
The Rogaining Queensland Event Calendar for 2019 is available at The volunteer page on the website has a description of each of the event volunteer roles. Please send an email to to put your hand up. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you.
