SEQ Bulletin – March 2023

Next Event – Mini Rogaine 16 April
Entries are now open in the 3 hour mini rogaine. The event will be held in a new location this year – Wild Horse Mountain, in the Glasshouse Mountains area. Thanks to Steve Amor and Adam Woods for helping put the event together. We hope to see you there.

Training Day 15 April
The annual Training Day will be held the day before the mini rogaine, so that you can learn new skills and apply them in the field at the mini rogaine the next day. This year the event will be held at Bellbird Grove, near The Gap.

Wildfire Raid
The Wildfire Raid is only a few days away now (3 & 6hr events, 25 March), and will have one of the biggest fields in its 6-year history. Raid Adventures has received some great support from both Wildfire Sports and Moreton Bay Regional Council for this event – check out this news item.
The 6 hour event is sold out with a waitlist, but there are still some places available in the 3 hour event for those that are looking to race last minute.
For those competing, please check out the event document here because there is a new HQ location and the bike drop location has been announced.
Other Raid Events
Entries are open in The Rogue Raid (24hr event, 29-30 April) and Escape Raid (multiple event options, 27-28 May)
This link has some interesting info on the Rogue Raid, including the approximate distances.
Places are limited in these hugely popular adventure races, so get your team together and entries in!

Paddlegaine Results
Congrats to all participants in the QRA Paddlegaine held in early Feb. We hope you had a great time. Big thanks to Kerry, Adam, Jeremy, Fiona, Jo, Alex, Kerrie and the rest of the volunteers who organised the event.
The results are on the QRA website: https://qldrogaine.asn.au/results/

2023 AGM and New Committee
The QRA Annual General Meeting was held at the end of the Paddlegaine, and we give our thanks to all of the 2022 Committee and the new volunteers for the 2023 Committee. Here is the list of your 2023 QRA Committee Members.
In particular, thanks to outgoing President Michael Schafer for leading the club for the last two years, and to Sue Clark for serving as our Treasurer for the last two years and now stepping back into the President role. Welcome and thanks also to the new QRA Treasurer, Nick Clark. We’re always keen to have new people and ideas on the committee, so if you have any interest in helping out, please get in touch with one of the committee members.

2023 Event Calendar and Volunteering
Here is the event calendar for 2023 – which events will we see you at? Please remember, QRA is completely run by its volunteer members – by entering a QRA event you become a member of the association, and we ask that each member makes a contribution to at least one event during the year. In many cases it won’t prevent you from competing. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you if you are a little unsure, so give it a go.

Untamed Border Run – 24 June
Not quite a rogaine, but since it’s being organised by regular QRA volunteers Gav, Susie and Craig, it’s bound to be a great event!
Check it out, and put your entry in, here: untamedborderrun.com

Hope to see you at a rogaine soon.
