Last Chance to Enter – The Fox on the Run Rogaine – 2 June
Entries close on Wednesday night!
We have been invited onto private properties in Queensland’s beautiful Granite Belt area to hold this year’s 8 hour rogaine. Come along with your family and friends or get a team of athletes together. This event caters for all abilities.
Cunning and strategy will determine the outcome of this rogaine! The country consists of fast, open and clear areas that will have some teams running like a fox.  This is interspersed with areas containing a myriad of unmarked tracks to bring out the cunning and gamblers to guess a possible route to the next chosen checkpoint.
Thanks to one of the land owners who opened up more property for our event and then the last minute agreement of another land owner we can now say that you will definately have to be swift on foot and cunning of mind to be able to sweep this course.  So, to the fast and determined amongst you, we challenge you to get to every check point.  For the families, we have kept some check points close in and around the Hash House and we are sure you will have a fun time collecting these.  To all other entrants the Hash Hash will be humming when you choose to return, the fire will be lit and tales and camaraderie will abound.  If you haven’t entered yet make sure you do so before midnight 30 May!

The SunSEQer ARC Rogaine – 25/26 August

Entries have been steadily flowing in for the biggest rogaining event in SEQ this decade…
the SunSEQer Rogaine (incorporating the 2018 Australasian Championships). Don’t miss out!

Enter Here Now

Rogainers of all abilities are welcome. There will be an All Night Cafe out on the course for you to refuel and re-energise, and you can always come back in to the Hash House for a feed and/or a snooze, and perhaps a red wine by the fire!

The ARC course setter Richard Robinson has recently returned from a trip taping control sites, and has filed this report. Sounds like it will be a great course!

NEW: SunSEQer 15 Hour Roving Event
We have decided to run a 15 Hour ‘Roving’ event in conjunction with the ARC 24 Hour event, and when you enter a team here you are entering both events. If you decide to stay out on the course for less than 15 hours in total, you will be competitive in the 15 Hour ‘Roving’ event (but note, the 15hr is not recognised as an Australasian Championships event).

NEW: SunSEQer Training Day and 3 Hour Mini Rogaine
Another option for people who are new to rogaining, or perhaps want to introduce their kids to rogaining, we will be running a Training Day from 1pm to 5pm on 25 August (at the SunSEQer event start/finish) and a Mini Rogaine from 9am to 12pm on 26 August. See more information and entry links here.

Please share and respond to the Facebook event invitation. Please also spread the word to those that you think might be interested within Qld and interstate. If you can’t compete please think about volunteering to help.
The Gympie Regional Council have generously offered financial support to the event (see for information on the region).

Can’t Make the Australasian Rogaining Champs But Still Want to Help?
We have a need for some people to check the tracks through the State Forest section of the event area. The vegetation in these areas is very thick in places and thus having accurate track mapping is very important for fairness. If you think you may be able to assist please contact Course Setter Richard Robinson at who can provide you with a section of the map and instructions as to what needs to be done. If you don’t have a suitable GPS tracking device then contact Paul Guard to borrow one of the QRA devices.
The site is about 3 hours’ drive from Brisbane and it is expected that there is about 4 team days effort required. That is, two teams could get it done in a weekend. The assistance of QRA members on this would be greatly appreciated.

Offer to Host an Interstate Visitor!
We would like to invite SEQ Rogainers to host our interstate and international visitors for a night (or as many nights as you like) around the time of the SunSEQer Rogaine (the Australasian Championships). This will especially encourage and assist the Intervarsity Championship entrants.
If you have a spare bed or two, please consider if you can help us out by filling in the Expression of Interest form here:
From the Gold Coast to Noosa to Ipswich and beyond toward Manumbar, we appreciate all offers. If you have any queries in regard to this post, please don’t hesitate to contact Linda via email

Cyclegaine Washup
This year’s cyclegaine was held in the beautiful Granite Belt area, and was enjoyed by all participants. Winning the 6hr was Liam St Pierre and Gary Sutherland, closely followed by Kim Beckinsale and Jan Leverton. The 3hr event was won by John and Norah Skilton. Congrats to all participants and big thanks to Richard Robinson, Tamsin Barnes and Zac Twidale for volunteering and making the event possible. Full results are here.

Entries now open in the ‘Kruising Around Kingaham’ Rogaine – 30 June
Please join us for the QRA 6hr and 12hr foot rogaines to be held in the area around the Landcruiser Mountain Park, on Saturday 30 June 2018. Our 6hr event is great for families and beginner rogainers, getting back to the Hash House before dark to enjoy dinner by the campfire. Our 12hr event is always popular, since it lets you prove your skills in both day and night and also allows you to get a hearty meal at the end and a well-deserved sleep!
Make sure to plan to stay over the night and enjoy the Hash House food, campfire and camping opportunities. Dinner and breakfast are included in your entry fees, and  also go out on the course the next morning to collect controls and check out parts of the course you might have missed.
Entries are open now, here:

Call for Volunteers!
The rogaining association and all QRA events are run entirely by volunteers. We actually need all QRA members to volunteer some time each year to sustain the sport. If you are interested in organising or assisting in running a rogaine please get in touch, it’s a fantastic opportunity to explore Queensland and practice your nav all while giving back to the organisation.
The Rogaining Queensland Event Calendar is available at The volunteer page on the website has a description of each of the event volunteer roles. Please send an email to to put your hand up. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you.
If you have any interest in helping on the Committee in any way please also get in touch via
