Dawn Nav Bonus Round this Sunday

A special ‘bonus round’ of Dawn Nav will start at the Regatta Hotel on Sunday 13th August. There will be three 60-minute MapRun runs back-to-back, traversing the city from the Regatta Hotel to the Apollo Road ferry terminal in Bulimba.

Here are the details for the three runs:
1) Start at the Regatta at 6am, finish at South Bank ferry terminal at 7am
2) Start at South Bank ferry terminal at 7am, finish at New Farm Park ferry terminal at 8am
3) Start at New Farm ferry terminal at 8am, finish at Apollo Road ferry terminal at 9am
The map for each run will be available at the run’s start location from 5 minutes before the start.

To return to the start, there is the option of taking the 9:05am ferry from Apollo Road ferry terminal back to the Regatta (arriving at 10:12am). Or you could arrange a pickup, or even do a car shuffle with another Dawn-Navver.

Another twist – you can use the CityCat ferry services during any of the three legs of the event. Useful ferry options will be shown on each of the three maps. You will need to take at least one ferry so please bring your Go Card.

Everyone is welcome! No experience necessary. Run as an individual or as a team. If you need an explanation of how it all works, just ask on the day.

Traversing the Cauldron Rogaine – 8-9th July – Results

Congrats to all participants in the Traversing the Cauldron Rogaine that was held on 8-9 July. The weather was perfect and the terrain was a great mix of grassy rolling hills and forested ridges. Here are the results: https://qldrogaine.asn.au/results/

In the Queensland 24hr Championship event, Liam St Pierre and Paul Guard won the Overall and Veteran trophies, Christine Perry and Anthony Pohlner won the Mixed category, and Kim Piercy and Penny Spiers won the Women’s trophy.

Big thanks go to Suwati and her team of wonderful volunteers for pulling the event together so capably. And huge thanks to the Ironpot Farmers Hall for the delicious catering and to all of the generous landholders who enabled the event to take place.

We also made the local news!

2023 QRA Event Calendar and Volunteering
Here is the event calendar for 2023 – which events will we see you at? Please remember, QRA is completely run by its volunteer members – by entering a QRA event you become a member of the association, and we ask that each member makes a contribution to at least one event during the year. In many cases it won’t prevent you from competing. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you if you are a little unsure, so give it a go. We’re also starting to plan for next year’s events and would love to hear from you if you would like to lead the organisation of an event.

QRA 2023 Events:

  • 28 Oct – Metrogaine – Redcliffe
  • Xmas Rogaine and BBQ – TBA
