In this bulletin:

Our next event – Traversing the Cauldron, 8-9 July – the highlight of the SEQ rogaining calendar!

Entries are now open in the ‘Traversing the Cauldron’ 15/24hr rogaine, to be held on 8-9 July. This year we are returning to the Ironpot area, west of Kingaroy, to one of our favourite 24hr rogaine maps. We’ve had events here in 2003, 2010 and 2017 and every time they’ve been a great success – classic wide-open cattle properties with easy travel and great views, plus plenty of moonlight to help you with your navigation!

Remember – just because it’s a 24 hour event it doesn’t mean you have to stay out all night. Come back in for a hot meal beside the campfire, have a good rest and head back out when you feel ready!

The map is a little different this year so there will be some fresh challenges for experienced teams. The famous Ironpot Hall catering crew are returning to keep you fed and hydrated, with food available all night and also at the end of the event. Don’t miss out!

This event is open to everyone – novices, families, elites are all welcome. The 24hr event is the Qld Rogaining Championships, but is open to everyone to have a go. If you are sure you want a good night’s sleep but also want to be competitive, there is a ‘roving 15hr’ option where you can be out on the course for up to 15 hours within the 24-hour period.

Camping is available at the Hash House on both Friday and Saturday nights, and we’re planning to have the traditional shared campfire on the Saturday night. Get your entry in now! Only a couple of weeks left before entries close.

2023 QRA Event Calendar and Volunteering
Here is the event calendar for 2023 â€“ which events will we see you at? Please remember, QRA is completely run by its volunteer members – by entering a QRA event you become a member of the association, and we ask that each member makes a contribution to at least one event during the year. In many cases it won’t prevent you from competing. It’s a lot of fun, you learn heaps about rogaining and we have many experienced hands to support you if you are a little unsure, so give it a go.

  • 2 Sept – Cyclegaine – Glasshouse Mtns – *volunteers needed*
  • 28 Oct – Metrogaine – Redcliffe
